Who are we?
Specialist Surfacing continues to encompass the same sense of family principles as it did when founded in 1982 by Derrick Hunt. This ethos and commitment to deliver a quality service was instilled in our Managing Director Scott Morse from the beginning of his journey with Specialist Surfacing in the 1990s. His role as MD commenced in 2010 and incorporates all aspects of the business but with particular emphasis on the Contracting Department, including product and process development ensuring continual improvement in line with latest technologies, machinery and materials.
Colleagues Jason Horton and Craig Tate became Directors shortly after Scott took the helm. Jason, as Contracts Director oversees and supports the contracting team, contract programmes, finance and budgets. Craig, as Commercial Director works in close conjunction with clients providing the estimating function and also supports the contracting team, formulating work schedules and resources. Together, they continue as a team to successfully run the business with quality, safety and value as Specialist Surfacing’s key priorities.

Induction
All workers must be fully inducted prior to working on any SSL site, giving them the information they need to go home safe every day.
Empowerment
Every individual is encouraged to bring ideas forward and raise concerns to improve H&S within the company

All employees and contractors are able to stop work at any point they feel the work is not being carried out safely.
Consultation
We believe safety should be a two-way conversation. Specialist Surfacing operate a Workforce Consultation Group to give workers a voice in H&S matters throughout the company.

Having successfully maintained the ISO 9001 accreditation for 15 years, advanced to include the National Highways Scheme 16 for the laying of asphalt mixes within the certification
Enhancing the well established ISO9001 Certificate in place from 1995, Specialist Surfacing achieved both ISO45001:2018 Occupational Health &Safety Management and ISO14001:2015 Environmental Management Certifications
